I’m posting here materials in support of the Berlin Community Tango Orchestra’s work playing a tanda of Di Sarli…I’ve offered two recordings of each piece, both of which are “danceable.” In general, the recordings from the 40s are more often selected by experienced DJs, they reflect the orchestra in a time when the primary venue for performance was the milonga. The 50s recordings reflect a refined/developed style, different recording technology/aesthetic, and generally slower tempos. I think both versions are helpful for us to understand and interpret this music for modern dance audiences, but I’m particularly interested in the recordings of the 40s. Please feel free to leave comments!
