I’ve added a new arrangement of Varela’s Fueron Tres Años! I have to say, I wasn’t originally a fan of Varela. I found it initially a little overblown and dramatic. But there are a few songs that have become extremely popular with tango Djs and after hearing and dancing to this song several times, I’ve found a great deal of enjoyment… Yes, it tends towards bombastic, but it has a driving beat, sweeping string lines and a powerful melody that offers lots of motivation for dance. This version is arranged for Orquesta Tipica with Singer, and follows the Varela recording.

This chart is in F minor, and the range for the 1st violins is high, the piano part is also substantial, but otherwise, its a very accessible arrangement. I would call it “intermediate” but easier-then-average for the bandoneon section….your feedback and comments are very welcome.
