Do you play a music instrument? Do you love tango? Are you looking for a relaxed vacation with excellent food, beautiful bucolic setting, opportunities to dance, learn, and make music!
Join us for a week of tango music and dance in the idyllic, pastoral setting of the Proitzer Mühle. This historic waterfall mill has been converted to a charming and comfortable conference facility that hosts several tango events each year. The Tango Orchestra Lab began 5 years ago as an accompaniment for the Summer Tango Lab featuring classes, lessons, practice time, and lots of opportunities to dance. Along side this event we offer a program for musician’s interested in playing tango music for dancers. The program is led by Korey Ireland, founder of the Community Tango Orchestra project and features repertory drawn from golden era dance favorites, arranged for a range of instrumental abilities. We have professional and hobby musicians collaborating to recreate the experience of a golden era orchestra tipica. In addition, we will play in smaller combinations grouped by skill level and interest to prepare music for the nightly milongas during the week. At the end of the week the full orchestra performs a set of tango music at the closing ball to share and celebrate what we’ve learned throughout the week. Now in its 5th year, the program serves also as a gathering point and retreat for musicians from various cities who play in similar ensembles. We invite those involved in similar community/semi professional tango ensembles to join us October 14-21 for a relaxed and inspiring week of music and dance in the heart of Germany.
